Blog Assignment 1 "What is Globalzation?"---ZHANG LINYUE
Summary
As can be seen through this essay, the author analyzes the comprehensiveness of globalization as a complex and multifaceted process through four aspects: the parameters of the general process of globalization, the dimensions of globalization, the forms of globalization, and global history. Globalization is considered to be the interconnection of all aspects of human life. The most important aspects are cultural, social, political and economic dimensions.
In terms of the parameters of the general process of globalization, the author argues that global consciousness operates in complex ways and that the most important feature of globalization is increased connectivity. And by citing Huntington, it is shown that increasing connectivity and global consciousness are economic materialism, policy and ideology around resources.
In terms of the dimensions of globalization, the author explains that there are three main dimensions of globalization, namely economic, political and cultural. The author emphasizes the need to think about the relationship between culture, economy and politics from a multidimensional perspective. It is emphasized to focus on the social dimension and to pay attention to social interaction.
In terms of the forms of globalization, the author divides the process of globalization into a multidimensional model (four points of reference): the international system, the concept of humanity, the individual self (the whole) and the nation-state. The importance of the nation-state is also emphasized as an aspect of globalization. Under the various linkages of the nation-state, forms of multiculturalism are becoming global norms. It is emphasized that the individual or everyday life cannot be excluded from the realm of globalization, and it is shown that, due to the differentiation of selfhood and the complex relationship of self-identification, the individual presents his or her uniqueness in a co-presented way.
Globalization is a conceptual framework, not a substantive thing. Globalization, as a homogenizing force, is a perpetual process.
In the context of global history, the author argues that historical perspectives of a highly connected and globally conscious era are being influenced by an increased awareness of globalization and a globalized analytical framework.
The authors emphasize that "what is globalization" cannot be answered in an essentialist way, but should take into account temporal and spatial changes and observe the world from a single pivot point.
Interesting aspect
Interestingly, in exploring the question of "what is globalization", the author of this paper says that it is necessary to find an Archimedean fulcrum from which to view the world. It suddenly dawned on me that we cannot describe "what is globalization" explicitly in terms of its essence, but rather, we have to look at the issue from a key point that can integrate facts and theories.
Discussion
In the case of China and South Korea, what efforts have been made to globalize the economy?
