Blog Reading Assignment 2-What is the relation between culture and globalization?-ZHANG RUIQING

Summary

This article explains the phenomenon of globalization and culture, and discusses the relationship between globalization and culture and the impact of the globalization of culture on people's daily lives in various fields. It gives us a clearer understanding of the relationship between culture and globalization, and the impact of cultural globalization.

Globalization is a multidimensional process that occurs simultaneously in the areas of economics, politics, technological development (especially media and communication technologies), environmental change and culture. Globalization is the flow of information across international borders of all that takes place in life. Cultural symbols and cultural interpretations constantly motivate and guide people to make particular choices and take particular actions. To understand the impact of culture on globalization, it is important to understand how culturally contextualized "local" behaviours can have consequences for globalization.

Globalization is characterized by "de-territorialization". De-territorialization refers to the incorporation of distant events, relationships, etc., into people's daily lives, which diminishes the influence of local characteristics on modern culture.

It can be seen that cultural globalization is a complex phenomenon with different perceptions and concepts. People's perceptions are often influenced by their backgrounds, values and experiences. It covers all aspects of social, economic and cultural life in the world. It has a great impact on our lives, such as the way of entertainment, the way of thinking and so on.

Interesting

What surprised me was the phenomenon of cultural remoteness. In the twenty-first century, this phenomenon has also become a new and unique mode of cultural de-territorialization due to the increased reliance on electronic media and communication technologies in people's daily lives.

Discussion

The globalization of culture may accelerate the disappearance of traditional cultures as people change their media, entertainment and consumption habits. How can this potential disappearance of traditional cultures be avoided while safeguarding the benefits of cultural globalization?
