2.    What did you think about the "What is globalization" Reading 1? Can you answer one of the questions related to the reading that your colleagues asked?

Globalization in the usual sense refers to the increasing global connections, the development of human life on a global scale and the rise of global consciousness. Every country is interconnected and interdependent in economic, political, cultural and other aspects. Globalization can also be explained as the compression of the world and the view of the world as a whole. However, globalization can be understood in both a narrow sense and a broad sense. Globalization in the narrow sense refers to economic globalization, which refers to the flow and allocation of various production factors around the world, so that each country's economy is closely connected, influencing and dependent on each other. This is a historical development process. Globalization in a broad sense refers to the increase in interdependence and overall awareness brought about by economic marketization, high-tech communications, and cultural homogenization. This shows that globalization not only refers to economic dependence, but also involves the transformation of time and space in areas of life.

Question; What positive impacts has globalization had on your country?

The positive impact of globalization on China

Economic development: Globalization has integrated the Chinese economy into the trend of the world economy and brought huge economic development opportunities to China. China has become the world's largest exporter and second-largest economy, and its economic growth rate far exceeds the average level of the world economy. Globalization has also promoted the internationalization of Chinese enterprises, and many Chinese enterprises have begun to emerge in the international market.

Technological innovation: Globalization has brought opportunities for technological innovation and industrial upgrading. China has accelerated its own technological innovation and industrial upgrading by introducing advanced foreign technology and management experience. The development of a series of high-tech fields such as China's high-speed rail, mobile payment, and 5G have all benefited from globalization.

Cultural exchange: Globalization has promoted cultural exchanges between China and other parts of the world. China's traditional culture and art have attracted attention and love from the international community. At the same time, China has also actively absorbed cultural elements from all over the world, enriching its own cultural treasure house. This kind of cross-cultural exchange helps to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between people of different countries.

3.    Which country is more culturally globalized: Korea, China or Japan? What country is most globalized in the world?

I think cultural globalization is different in every country because there are differences. In the past few decades, Korean pop culture has spread rapidly around the world, especially Korean pop music and TV dramas, which have gained the love of people around the world. China has a long history and has influenced Asian countries and the world in the past, such as calligraphy, Chinese food and Kung Fu. Japanese animations, comics, etc. also influence people around the world. If I have to say which country is more culturally global, I think it is China. Because China has a history of five thousand years, Chinese culture has deeply influenced many countries in the long history.

Globalization is increasingly influenced by development and culture around the world. Every country plays an important role in the process of globalization. Globalization involves many aspects, and every country has its own advantages in different fields. Diverse participation and contributions. Therefore, I feel that no country in the world has the highest degree of globalization. This question cannot define which country has the highest degree of globalization.

4.     How could we measure cultural globalization

I think globalization can be measured in global popular culture and scope. For example, Korean kpop music, TV series and movies from other countries, as well as novels, comics and games, etc. This can all be measured by observing how popular these are internationally.

 5.    Can cultures be compared? Can we argue that some cultures are indeed better?

I think cultures can be compared, but in the process of comparing cultures, care must be taken to avoid cultural sensitivity and complexity. In some aspects, other cultures may be better, but we must also understand and tolerate other cultures. Good culture can drive the development and broadcast of other cultures. But every culture has its unique features and values. In the face of a better culture, we must avoid absolute judgment and respect diversity. Every culture is conducive to promoting cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.

6.    Think of examples in which we are taught as children that our culture is better than other cultures. Is it really true?

I think it's true that every country has a different history and culture, so there will definitely be a better culture. But in the past, cultures learned and exchanged with each other to promote today's world culture. In the long history of China, we have a history of more than 5,000 years. During the Han Dynasty of China, the Silk Road promoted trade and culture between countries. The Silk Road drove cultural exchanges and economic trade between many countries, so I think Chinese culture is better suited. It has already begun to spread and drive cultural exchanges in ancient times.

7.    How could a fusion culture look in 100 years?

In the current process of globalization, people a hundred years from now may merge several cultures together to form a new culture. Maybe everyone will overcome the language barrier and be able to communicate casually. It is also possible that everyone’s cultural awareness and cultural education will be stronger, but these are conducive to mutual learning between cultures and future development.

8.    Can you think of examples of cultural globalization that do not originate from Westen or Asian cultures?

African music, dance and fashion are relatively famous in the world. African traditional music and dance are closely related to local religions. Such as the Afrikaans drum in West Africa. African clothing culture is diverse and unique. The clothing of various regions in Africa reflects the local culture, climate, traditions and social status. For example, the headscarves and jewelry often worn by African people show different social status and background.
