World Value Survey--LI LINLIN

The topic of the world value survey data I chose homosexuality.

In total, 35 countries have legalized same-sex marriage nationally or non-nationally. But only one region in Asia has legalized it.So I chose three Asian countries, China, South Korea and Singapore, and compared their data.

Homosexuality acceptance

As you can see from the data and graph, China is the least accepting of homosexuality, and Singapore is relatively the highest of the three countries.

However, if we find the corresponding positions of these three countries in the Inglehart-Welzel World Cultural Map we will find that Singapore is more traditional.

The reason for choosing these three countries for comparison is that they all belong to the survival index of minus0.5 to 0 Among them, China and Singapore have the same survival index of minus0.10, and South Korea has a minus0.46.

For the acceptance of homosexuality, choose from the number 1 to 10, and the following graph provides an intuitive answer.

As can be seen from this graph, the overall acceptance of the homosexual community
in the three countries is still low, concentrated in the acceptance level of 1-5.

When asked whether they would mind if their neighbors were gay, more than half of respondents in China and South Korea said yes. In Singapore, however, nearly three-quarters of survey participants chose not to mind.

Based on the survey data of different age groups, I made three graphs. It can also be seen that the influence of age on the results is obvious.

From this line chart, we can see more directly how much each age group in each country cares about their neighbors being homosexuality.

The last graph is a survey on whether homosexual couples are as good parents as other couples.

China has the strongest opposition, while South Korea and Singapore have similar numbers.
And finally, on this issue, the contrast between male and female choices. According to the data, the difference in choice between men and women is not large, which can be clearly seen in the graph.
