Blog Assignment 3: "What is the relation between politics and globalization?" -JIN SIYU
(1)First, globalization refers to the process of deepening international linkages and interdependence. Globalization has brought the economies, cultures, and societies of all parts of the world closer together, forming a "global village". The development of science and technology has also facilitated exchanges among countries, and we can learn about the political policies of different regions without leaving our homes.
Furthermore, politics refers to the exercise of power and the decision-making process within and between countries or organizations. Politics covers a wide range of activities such as elections, legislation, administration, national security, and foreign affairs. In international relations, politics plays an important role, in influencing international cooperation, competition, and conflict.
Political power plays a vital role in international relations, influencing cooperation and confrontation between states. Political power can be achieved through a variety of means, such as military force, economic influence, and diplomatic tactics. Great powers are usually more politically powerful and are able to exert greater influence and dominance in the international arena.
However, there are certain differences between international and internal politics. Firstly, internal politics is more stable and orderly because a country has clear laws and institutions to manage its internal affairs. In contrast, international politics is more complex and unstable, and there is a lack of centralized authority between states to resolve disputes and conflicts. In addition, the major players in international politics are unequal, with larger countries having more influence and voice, while smaller countries face more challenges.
Politics and globalization are mutually influential and intertwined. Political decisions and government behavior can drive or adjust the process of globalization, while globalization shapes the international political landscape and influences political decisions. Globalization has had a profound impact on politics. First, globalization has accelerated the complexity and uncertainty of international politics. Because countries are more closely linked, international affairs have become more complex and require more coordination and cooperation. Secondly, globalization has given rise to new political issues, such as international environmental protection, the global wealth gap, and cyber security. These issues require joint efforts by all countries to resolve.
Globalization has also imposed some constraints and challenges on politics. As globalization deepens, the boundaries and sovereignty between countries are weakened, and governments are faced with more problems that cannot be solved independently. In addition, globalization has created new political problems, such as transnational crime, the global financial crisis, and terrorism, which require countries to join forces to deal with them. Globalization has made a number of political problems global and requires the cooperation of the international community to solve them. Many organizations have also been established to promote development such as UN, WTO, EU, APEC.
In short, the complexity and interconnectedness that characterize it allow us to understand that politics and globalization influence each other, that political decisions and behaviors affect the process of globalization, and that, at the same time, globalization shapes the political landscape and influences political decisions.
(2)Globalization is closely related to transnational corporations, and globalization provides transnational corporations with broader markets and opportunities for development. Through their globalized business activities, transnational corporations have promoted economic growth, technological innovation, and cultural exchanges.
With the rapid development of contemporary economic globalization, transnational corporations are continuously expanding their activity space in the world and participating in the international production division of labor and international trade system with their unique advantages. Not only are they transferring many factors of production from the domestic production area to the international market through international direct investment, but they are also extending some products and services in the domestic market to foreign countries through international trade and finance, etc., and at the same time promoting the formation of the global market competition mechanism in the contemporary international community.
(3)In the era of globalization, the role of transnational corporations in the global market can no longer be ignored, and globalization has provided transnational corporations with broader markets and development opportunities. Through their globalized business activities, transnational corporations have promoted economic growth, technological innovation, and cultural exchanges. However, we should also recognize that globalization and transnational corporations, while promoting economic development, also face many challenges, such as market risks and cultural conflicts. The stability, justice, order, and civilization of the international community and local economies also need support and attention. Therefore, how should transnational corporations face the challenges in order to realize the goal of sustainable development?
