Blog Assignment 3 (ZHANG YUEXI) :What is the relation between politics and globalization?
1. SUMMARY
The article emphasizes the complexity of political globalization. Under the trend of globalization, the relationship between the state and the forces of globalization is undergoing profound changes, involving geopolitics, cultural norms and polycentric networks. Under the interaction of the above three relations, a complex global political field has emerged.
Globalization has not weakened the democratic nation-state, but made it accepted worldwide.Different democratic nation-states have produced different political cultures. Human rights are the core of global cosmopolitanism. Once the country was the main agent of global norms, now the global normative culture has transcended the national system. A form of non-territorial politics, which is produced from multiple locations. The process of political globalization is related to the new source of network mobile communication, which represents the new relationship between individuals, countries and society.
Political globalization has not led to a new global governance order/world society, but it has led to transnational rectification actions that challenge neoliberal politics.Three driving forces of political globalization:
1. Conversion of nationality and citizenship With the development of globalization, it is easier to cross national boundaries, not only for economic exchanges, but also for political transnational identity. Globalization makes the concepts of nationality and identity more vague. Some people may have the identities of multiple countries at the same time, or their sense of loyalty is based more on specific values, cultures or interests than on a single national affiliation. This change has affected individuals' recognition and participation in politics on a global scale. 2. Public sphere and political communication Political discussion and information dissemination have also begun to cross national boundaries, forming a shared public space on a global scale. The popularity of social media and international news media enables political information to spread to all parts of the world in an instant. This global public sphere urges people to pay more attention to global issues, not just domestic issues. At the same time, political communication has become more diversified and extensive, and participation in global political dialogue has become more direct. 3. Civil society and space and borders Political globalization has promoted the formation and development of civil society. Civil society can coordinate actions on a global scale and have an impact on international politics. At the same time, political globalization also leads to the redefinition of space and boundaries. Some problems cross national boundaries and need to be solved by transnational cooperation (such as global climate change, international terrorist organizations and other global issues closely related to all countries in the world), which makes national boundaries relatively less important to some extent. The solution of global problems needs to transcend traditional national boundaries and urge the international community to find more flexible ways of cooperation. The impact of political globalization:
2.New item
The material mentioned post-statism, which I had never heard of before, so I looked up its definition and understood that what it expressed was: the state gradually loses its monopoly on governance rights and governance actions, and various social forces continue to join in the sharing of governance rights and the development of governance actions.
3.Question discussion
Now that political globalization has occurred and has been going on for some time, what role does each country play in it, what contributions have been made or what events have jeopardized the global social order?
