Blog Assignment:Analysis of Hofstede's variables——DENGQIN

 Comparative countries: Japan, United States

Variables: Cultural Dimensions of Individualism and Collectivism(Is one of Geert Hofstede's cultural dimensions)

1.United States

American society places a high value on individual rights, autonomy, and personal achievements. In the workplace, employees are generally expected to take initiative and work independently. Decision-making is often decentralized, and people tend to prioritize their own goals and aspirations.

2.Japan

In Japanese society, there is a strong emphasis on group harmony, loyalty, and interdependence. Group identity is crucial, whether it's within the family, workplace, or broader social circles. In the workplace, there's a collective approach to decision-making, and teamwork is highly valued. The concept of "wa" (harmony) is integral to Japanese culture, promoting cooperation and a sense of shared responsibility.

Comparison:

1)Collectivism in the United States and Japan is strongly opposed to individualism.

2)In the United States, individualism is emphasized, and individual freedom is emphasized culturally.

3)In Japan, where the emphasis is on the collective, the team always comes first, both socially and at work.
