Extra Credit blog : "Living in an à la carte world" -Kim min jun

1. Based on global opinion polls, it indicates that political and economic interests between Western and non-Western countries are intricately intertwined. In the West, there is a strong desire for political and economic exchanges, especially in the United States and Europe, while in other regions, there is a strong preference for economic cooperation with China over close political solidarity with Western countries.

With regard to the war between Ukraine and Russia, people all over the world have a positive view of Europe and the United States, but such values and lifestyle attractions do not appear to translate into political cohesion. In particular, many countries around the world tend to favor economic cooperation with China, but also security cooperation through U.S.-centered alliances.

In contrast to the positive views of Western countries, there are uncertainties and skepticism about the future of the EU. Many countries expect the breakup of the EU within 20 years, and it is believed that American democracy could also be threatened. This reflects the trend of many countries seeking more independent and adaptable status in an unstable political environment around the world.

These polling results send an important message that Western countries must seek new alliances and policies in a world of increasing instability and uncertainty about the future.

2. One of the things that was particularly interesting was that the results of global polls gave us insight into the different interests and priorities between Western and non-Western countries. The text covers the various viewpoints of countries in many aspects related to politics, economy, and security in the United States and Europe.

In particular, public opinion about the war between Ukraine and Russia, an important political event in the West, appears to vary from country to country, and there seems to be a conflict between economic interests and political cohesion. These diverse opinions show a tendency to favor a "à la carte" approach in which countries can work with different partners on a variety of issues, without being subordinated to a single political model or alliance.

It was also interesting to see the uncertainty and skepticism about the future of the EU. Polls show that, while the EU still has great appeal in terms of soft power, concerns about its economic and political dependence are emerging in an unstable world. This raises new concerns about the EU, which must adapt to changes in political models or international politics and seek new alliances.

3. I will extend the content of this text to Eastern countries. For example, China is considered economically attractive, but it differs greatly from the West in political values and lifestyles, especially the United States and Europe. This means that China is pursuing its own model politically, even though it works closely with the West in economic cooperation.

On the other hand, South Korea or Japan may tend to favor security cooperation with the United States while placing importance on economic cooperation with China. These countries will try to cooperate and share opinions through the United Nations or various international organizations, depending on specific issues or circumstances, while respecting Western lifestyles and values.

The various cooperation and priorities of these Eastern countries reflect the global trend to cooperate with various partners in a "à la carte" manner, and will demonstrate efforts to pursue various UN-led cooperation without being subordinated to certain alliances.
