Extra credit reading 1( Living in an à la carte world)——ZHANG YUEXI

First of all, I think this is a very interesting article, which uses a lot of data to investigate the current situation of "menu alliance" in various countries. Now the countries in the world are divided into several obvious sectors, namely, the European Union, the United States, China and Russia. Through the public opinion survey of citizens in different countries, different conclusions are drawn on the premise of different assumptions.

For example, you can choose to establish an important economic relationship with China, establish a safe relationship with the United States, and enjoy all that Europe has to offer. Choose strategic alliances with different countries according to your own needs. In fact, this is a very flexible way to form an alliance, and each country needs what it wants, instead of tying several countries together all the time.

As far as China is concerned, China has always adopted the strategic proposition of non-alignment and cooperation. China has not formed a formal alliance with any party, but it has carried out strategic cooperation with many countries, such as:

Russia: China and Russia have established a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, including energy, military technology, science and technology, culture and so on.

Brazil: China and Pakistan have established a comprehensive strategic partnership involving agriculture, energy and infrastructure construction.

South Africa: China and South Africa have established a comprehensive strategic partnership, covering trade, investment, agriculture, infrastructure construction and other fields.

Indonesia: China and Indonesia have established a comprehensive strategic partnership, including infrastructure, trade and anti-terrorism cooperation.

Pakistan: China and Pakistan have established an all-weather strategic partnership, mainly covering military, economic, infrastructure and other fields.

Saudi Arabia: China and Saudi Arabia have established a comprehensive strategic partnership, including cooperation in oil, energy and infrastructure construction.

The core idea of this policy is to safeguard national independence, respect equal relations between countries, promote peaceful development, help safeguard national independence and rights and interests, and avoid being subject to specific countries or groups. Non-aligned attitude can also try to avoid falling into obvious geopolitical opposition and reduce the potential conflict caused by alliance with a certain group. At the same time, we can establish strategic partnerships with countries with different systems, cultures and development levels to achieve win-win cooperation. It is easier to establish extensive multilateral cooperative relations with various countries. This will help to build an open and inclusive platform for international cooperation and promote common development.

But after reading the conclusion of the article, I have a question. In my opinion, it is more reasonable to establish economic relations with the United States and security relations with China. Because the United States is the largest economy in the world, and China can be said to be a relatively safer country. So I don't understand why there are some deviations between the conclusion of the article and my understanding.
